Women Veterans Support Services, Inc. (WVSS) was established in 2008 and has the distinction of being the State of North Carolina's First Women Veteran statewide organization. This nonprofit 501 (c) 3 has serviced women veterans with or without families and counting. We started with an all-volunteer staff. WVSS, Inc. specializes in crisis management. Women veterans are the fastest growing under-served population of being homeless, jobless, and it is said that we are" invisible." Of course, we are not invisible, we are very real and very present, and our service counts! WVSS, Inc is committed to assisting in her time of trouble, while we are primarily in service for her, we will not turn away people asking for assistance if we can help.
Since 2008 our Core Values are as follows:
Honor Women veterans sacrificed for all of us and defended our nation. They will be honored in return by being given a chance to live a productive, fulfilling life during Active Duty as well as after completing her service. | Dignity Women should be proud of what they have done, yet so many do not have a sense of their self-worth. When they come to us, we want to help them restore their dignity by assisting them to take back some control over their lives. | Compassion Our efforts must be grounded in compassion. We may not fully understand what circumstance she is going through at first, but we will listen actively, comprehend through wisdom, be guiding in love, and empathize with great care. | Advocate There will be times when we must give voice to the voiceless. Lending one's voice is vital for change in policies and services that we are entitled to and, finally, the call for action. |
